In an effort to keep all of our families healthy, happy, and safe this season we ask
that our participants exercise caution and consideration for others if either you or
your child is sick. Please use your best judgement when deciding whether or not to
bring your child to class when he/she is experiencing noticeable signs of sickness.
Additionally, for the health and wellness of all our families, we ask that you take a
minute before class to wash you and your child’s hands thoroughly before
participating in classes at Mama & Me.
Please read our policies regarding our specific programs below:
Drop In Classes: Please use your best judgement and consideration for others when
deciding whether or not to bring your child to class when he/she is experiencing
noticeable signs of sickness. Due to the young age of the children involved in our
classes, contamination is inevitable through contact with each other. If any child
appears to be too sick to participate in classes, Mama & Me reserves the right to
ask a parent to return home.
Toddler Enrichment Program: If your child is not feeling well or has had a
temperature above 98.6 degrees during the past 24 hours, please keep him/her at
home. If a child becomes ill during the Toddler Enrichment Program, we will contact
you immediately to take him/her home. An ill child must be free of fever, diarrhea
and/or nausea for 24 hours before returning to our programming. If the 24 hour
period is over during the following day’s program hours, the sick child must wait
until the next day to return. We apologize, but no refunds or make up sessions will
be given/allowed as a result of an absence of any kind during the Toddler
Enrichment Program.

HEALTH ADVISORY- AUGUST 2009
Preparing for the Flu Season:
As you may know, flu can be easily spread from person to person. Therefore,we
are taking steps to reduce the potential spread of flu at Mama & Me. We are
closely monitoring the Massachusetts State Health Department flu status updates
and utilizing the Center for Disease Control guidelines for schools and daycares.
Your help and cooperation is crucial towards keeping your child and our studio
healthy this flu season. We recommend that parents/caregivers help in the
following ways:
- Teach your children not to share personal items like drinks, food or
unwashed utensils, and to cover their coughs and sneezes with tissues.
Covering up their coughs or sneezes using the elbow, arm or sleeve instead
of the hand when a tissue is unavailable.
- Know the signs and symptoms of the flu. Symptoms of the flu include fever
(100 degrees Fahrenheit, 37.8 degrees Celsius or greater), cough, sore
throat, a runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, and feeling very tired.
Some people may also vomit or have diarrhea.
- Keep sick children at home for at least 24 hours after they no longer have
fever or do not have signs of fever, without using fever-reducing drugs.
Keeping children with a fever at home will reduce the number of people
who may get infected.
- Do not send children to classes if they are sick. Any children who are
determined to be sick and potentially contagious while at our studio will be
sent home. Additionally, if you or anyone else in your household is
experiencing symptoms of the flu, please do not come to class until it is
determined by your physician that they are no longer contagious.
How does Mama & Me prevent the spread of germs?
- Toys, chairs, tables and class
supplies are cleaned between every class.
- Cloth hand towels and smocks are
washed daily.
- Changing pads and diaper pails are
disinfected nightly.
- Parachutes and dress-up clothes
smocks are washed regularly.
- Toys and table tops in common
areas are cleaned at the end of each day.
- Our studio is thoroughly cleaned,
mopped, and disinfected three times per week.
- Hand sanitizer is available in
classrooms and at the front desk.
