Laura has extensive experience in the intersection of art,
creativity, and parenting. Combining her background in the visual
arts with her passion for early childhood, she started teaching
Reggio Emilia-inspired clayworking and painting classes to toddlers
through her company, Creative Roots, and developmental
playgroups at Charlestown Nursery School. Laura is interested in
finding creative approaches to parenting and exploring the innate
curiosity of young minds. Her experiences as a daycare provider
and mother to an active toddler have offered her new ways to
appreciate the complexities and beauty in raising young children.
She is currently finishing her Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies
from Lesley University focusing on Early Childhood Development
and Reggio Emilia programs. She also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts
from The Art Institute of Boston.

MIGHTY ART is a Reggio Emilia-inspired playgroup providing a
unique environment for children to explore their innate creativity
and curiosity. Parents and caregivers should come prepared to get
messy and will be hands-on participants, helping to support their
children’s emerging ideas mediums with an open-ended curriculum
designed to tap into the children’s visual, tactile, sensory, fine
motor control and creative sensibilities. We will cover a wide range
of materials, including: washable tempera paints, spaghetti painting,
shaving cream painting, watercolors, markers, crayons, finger paints,
collage, feely goop, jello painting, non-toxic clay, homemade play
dough, and more! Classes are based on the principle that children
learn best when allowed to move freely around the space and
engage in large-scale, hands-on activities, so all classes work on a
large tarp and large walls of paper. Emphasis will be on process, not
product, encouraging individual expression and innovative play.
Come let your children explore their creativity without making a
mess at home!
