Shannon has an extensive background in childcare, youth activities
coordination, and teaching toddler enrichment classes. Combining her
background in youth development with her passion for the arts, she began
developing her own art and creative enrichment classes for toddlers for her
business Mama & Me. Shannon aims to help inspire parents with new ways in
which they can engage their children's curiosity and challenge their growing
bodies with fun, skill-building games and activities that parents can easily
replicate at home for more entertainment. Shannon is the owner, and
director of Mama & Me in the Jamaica Plain Brewery Complex and leads
many of their classes, in addition to teaching at USES, Children's Art Center
in the South End.

Edible Art (1-3 years)
Kids eat art materials… it’s just a fact at this age! Believe it or not,
tasting their art is a developmentally appropriate way for your little
one to begin exploring art. So, while we don’t encourage eating a
tub of play dough, we will teach you how to make your own… just
in case the inevitable taste test happens here and there!
Through this class parents and caregivers will learn how to make a
variety of home-made art materials including salt-dough, pudding
paint, slime, ice cube paints, and more. Additionally parents and
caregivers will be introduced to new and exciting ways to
encourage their little ones to play with and explore art.
Designed to stimulate both you and your child's imagination, this
class encourages children to experiment with new textures and
artistic mediums. Focus on this class is given to the exploration of
materials and the process, rather than a finished product.
This class is a great way to explore art with your child while
learning new activity ideas and projects to replicate in your own
kitchen at home. Demonstrations and recipes of how to make each
new material will be given each class. Please come prepared to get
messy and be involved, parent participation is encouraged in this
exploration process!
